Furthermore, we have not tried ourselves converting. FBX, so I can't say how well will that work out. Hey Silvaes have you tried this yet? I am also intrested in trying this out actually. Originally posted by BunnyShade :. Last edited by Silvs ; 9 Jan pm.

In addition, since it can be launched simultaneously with the VR game application, you can record an MR video as if the character entered the world of the game application by combining the game application screen with the VirtualMotionCapture screen.

I will explain how to use those applications and how to set up them in the next article, so I introduce the basics to use VirtualMotionCapture in this article.

And, we use a live-streaming application called OBS Studio at the final stage, so download this software as well. However, if you use other live-streaming software, you may use it instead. Unlike other common applications that control the model by VR devices, it can control the model while playing a VR game. The most notable feature of VirtualMotionCapture is that you can launch it simultaneously with the VR-game application, which is considered impossible with other common applications.

By using this feature, you can move a character in sync with the motion of the player who plays the VR game, so you can livestream the VR game like a Vtuber. In addition, instead of launching it with the VR game, you can simply use it to control a 3D model, which is also an advantage for various applications. This time, I download the free version Ver 0. When launching the application, it also brings up the control panel at the same time.

Select and open the VRM file prepared earlier. In the case you use your original model created with VRoid etc. If everything goes well, the model will be displayed on the screen. Click the main screen and then use the mouse to adjust the position of the Camera.

There are three modes for the calibration. Spread your arms, keep the controllers upright and turn your palms forwards. The white spheres displayed in the main screen represents the positions of the HMD and the controllers. Adjust the position of the HMD and the controllers so that those spheres are at the head and hands of the model. Now you came to be able to move the model. Since we use the space as the background, you may create a dummy space by modelling only what the camera can see. This time, we use what is shown in the screenshot below.

We use the live-streaming software called OBS Studio this time. As a Source listed above another Source will be on the top of another Source in the display, reorder the Sources so that the Window Capture is above the Image. Once you set up the recording and the broadcasting, you will be able to create a video and livestream. In this article, I introduced the basics to use VirtualMotionCapture. Even this basic way allows you to livestream gameplay like Vtuber straight away.

However, you still need to learn more if you want to create an MR video as if the character entered the world of the game application.

You can download old Unity versions from here. Placing the fbx model data in the Project folder. Left click the model data, and select the Inspector tab at the right part of the screen.

Double click the unitypackage file you downloaded, and import the package to Unity. Once the data is placed in Unity, a Prefab is auto-created. The details for the licence is available here. Mixamo is a service from the Adobe company, and there are many motion files and 3D models you can download from the website. When you log in to Mixamo, you will see a list of numerous motions. For this example, I changed the download settings as below in order to fit the motion to the model data.

Add the downloaded FBX file to your Unity project. The motion will loop with this setting. Setting the Animator Controller to the model. Placing the Animation in the Animator Controller. Finally, lets check if the motion works properly. Select the Scene tab to show the preview, and click the Play icon at the top of the screen.

You can also use self-made motions made using software like Blender. Use this file and perform the same actions as the Mixamo file. Setting the blink animation in the Animator Controller. Select the Scene tab, click the Play button at the top of your screen, and see if the character properly blinks. You can change a different BlendShaper and set different face expressions for your character, so set whatever expression animation you want!

The model will be placed inside the scene, so move it to where you want to place it. Great job!Where do I go to download VRoid models? You can play with sliders and edit textures to create your own models.

For me, a big thing is that the program is portable, meaning no installation. All of that stuff really only applies if you are uploading to VRhuba service hosted by Pixiv that allows you to share and download VRM models. I was lucky enough for a nice lady to show me a copy of the software with a Japanese ReadMe file on BowlRoll.

Bowlroll is a popular Japanese file sharing site. The first part is the easiest. You just need to find the password! The password is in that section. Now that you know what the password is, open up BowlRoll. Because of that, it may be a bad idea to convert all of your models in the same folder.

As you can see, all of the physics are preserved! For a lot of people, the article ends here. You did it! For other people, there are a few changes that need to be made. In the conversion process, no bone groups are created for the new model. For people who only use premade motions, this is no issue. If you make your own motions, however, taking a look at this article may be helpful. One of the problems that seems the biggest but has a really simple solution is the body poking out from behind the clothes.

I wrote about this previously with my Camila model. All it takes is deleting the parts of the body that will always be hidden behind the clothes to fix it. Then, select all of the vertices you want deleted. If you only use premade motions, again, this is no issue. This part will not be as much laborious as it will be tedious. Then, you can name the morphs anything that will make your life easier!

You can also rename the English names for bones and the materials if that makes your life easier also! Why does my MMD model's hair fall through the body? How do you stop hair Why do no diamonds appear in frame chart? How do you make the diamonds show What are Cycles Materials?Disclaimer: This is not a guide.

It is a journal entry detailing my experiences with this subject, and is not meant to be complete or reliable. Facerig was one of the early options you could look at to become a Vtuber, and it actually predates the culture by an entire technology generation.

With the next generation starting to emerge with VRoid and VRM facilitating easier character usage, I never got it until it was gifted to me recently.

Convert VRoid Studio to MMD With One Click

It arguably remains as the best face tracking option in the field. While I would still need to do a lot of conversion, I hypothesised that I could probably hack together a proof of concept. After skimming the Facerig documentation and a Japanese attempt at CG Method of the same thing, I ended up not getting far at all.

The first stage is converting the files into the right format. I did the conversion with a combination of Blender 2. I also initially aimed to use Blender 2.

Blender Evee + Vroid Test

Since it was only a proof-of-concept attempt, I decided to immediately export it to. I have never used this before, but it said that it was a fork of a fork of ImageMagick, which was my go-to in the past.

vroid import model

ABIC had a portable version, which was a plus. The textures had three names separated by underscores: model, material, and type. Renaming them was simple enough that I could batch rename them. The main type suffixes were d for diffuse, b for normal, and s for specular. Most of the textures were diffuse. Putting everything in the same folder to be read, I ran the import tool. A couple of warnings occured: There was no camera in the geometry file, and there were too many bones above the recommended number; instead of The tool has a set of spreadsheets indicated the autodetected texture assignments, which I adjusted manually, but the alpha blending and shader had to be declared manually.

Since VRoid relies significantly on alpha blended textures, most of them were set to alpha. The shaders were set to whatever was appropriate, but they seem to just make more textures available for assignment. Thinking I was set, I immediately hit a roadblock: After trying to do the import, there was an error message saying you are required to also assign animations to the model.

Several sets of animations need to be assigned to generate facial expressions, mouth phonemes, eye movements, finger and hand bending, etc.

It generally made it into Facerig, but without any animation to interpret my face, it was stuck in a T-pose.

The majority of the textures were missing, too. The fact that the model itself made it in was a good sign, since the first issue I was expecting was the failure of the VRM importer, right at the beginning. But there were obviously a lot of questions raised, including whether continuing was worth the effort.
